Eccentric is in. And so is the threat from another planet. Emcee/producer 7evenThirty has descended from his interstellar studio to deliver a new form of hip-hop to the masses and the music world is better for it. Born Marques Phillips, 7even:Thirty was turned on hip-hop in his hometown of Jackson, Mississippi, by his close friend and producer 5-D (Keith Govan) and his god sister in the early 90s. Golden era hip-hop icons Digable Planets, Pete Rock, and J Dilla, inspired 7evenThirty to pick up a pad, pen, and beat machine. He wrote his first rhymes from the “Cool Like That” instrumental and looped his first beats from interludes on Pete Rock’s Main Ingredient. His wild and edgy stage persona was developed after his fascination with a young Busta Rhymes and the early Ol' Dirty Bastard. Since then 7evenThirty has worked diligently at developing his own sound, a sound he describes as “Hardcore Space Gangsa Music.” 7evenThirty has appeared on numerous notable independent projects that have made noise in both the Jackson, MS hip-hop scene and has launched his efforts worldwide, forming alliances with artists and producers from Southwest Jackson to Sweden. He has also appeared on various compilations including How’s My Rapping? (Double Platinum Entertainment- Jackson, MS 2003) and Rhyme Travelin’ (Soularp Records- Sweden 2010). Since his crash landing onto the hip hop mega globe, he has also had the opportunity to open for more majorly known hip-hop acts such as Raekwon, Ghostfac
