70s Cop formed in 2008 and after a period of discovery of the right sound and song-writing, have recently started gigging in and around Brighton. They are rapidly increasing their repertoire of tracks, whilst always striving to challenge both themselves and those who hear their music. Drummer Rich’s energetic and artistic style provides the basis for the rest of the band to build on. He combines many varied drumming styles, whilst also adding his own individual touches. The drums are complemented by Charlie’s aggressive and adaptive parts, which stray from normal bass playing stereotypes. The atmospheric guitar parts provided by Anthony, reminiscent of artists such as Massive Attack and Portishead, coupled with menacing choruses and breakdowns provide the perfect canvas for Ian’s vocals. His emotional hooks hold the ears of audiences before his powerful vocals ring out on parts which sound original, whilst still oddly familiar. The band ethos is based on excellent technical performance combined with songs which can last in the memory. They aim to put across their enjoyment of playing and belief in their songs in their live shows, at the same time as shying away from big displays of ego. They want to reach the top, whilst still displaying that they will only get there on merit. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
