4Step is a modern jazz outfit from Czech Republic, led by trumpeter and composer Štěpánka Balcarová. They have been active on the Czech music scene for several years . The idea to establish an electric quartet emerged from the meeting trumpeter Štěpánka Balcarová (Inner Spaces, Glimmer Quintet wrgha POWU) and guitarist Jiří Šimek (Muff, Performing Tomatoes, Jiří Šimek Trio). Their works combine acoustic sound of a jazz quartet with a modern understanding of contemporary improvised music: the band presents the author's compositions based on simple and repetitive harmonies and memorable melodies. Wide range of diverse electrical effects give quartet a modern sound and makes it accessible to a wider audience.
