In 1995, 4-2 Tha Dome dropped the "Blame It On Society" EP. This EP is a short but sweet chronicle of street life in Alabama's largest city, Birmingham. The EP opens with a skit in which a drive-by homicide is committed. This introduction sets the tone for what is to follow on the rest of the EP. "2 Glocks" is a violent braggadocio cut where The duo of Mr. Tre 8 and G-Money inform you why you should fear them and their city. They are bigger than you, meaner than you, and they have more guns than you. This is a formula you are likely to see on any given gangsta rap record but these guys carry the style to back their rhymes. The production is grimy and the raps are precise and technical. The title track, "Blame It On Society", establishes society as a scapegoat for our protagonists' behavior. G-Money and Tre 8 explain to the listener that their street hustles aren't for fun, or by choice, but rather, the only thing they know, a way to make end's meat. This laid-back track paints a picture of two young men trying to cope with confusion, misunderstanding, racism, and corruption. The next track, "One In The Chamber", brings us some more pent up, threatening raps, and employs a sample made famous by NWA's "Just Don't Bite It". The EP's last track, "Laws Get Me Pausing" is about the hardships of doing time for breaking unjust laws and dealing with crooked policemen. G-Money and Tre 8 trade off lines over a hype beat that features a nice change up about 2 minutes in. User-contrib
