'Wild' Bill Davison (born 1906, Defiance Ohio. Died 1989, Santa Barbra California) was a cornetist known for his tonal distortions and use a vibrato creating a signature tone. He got his start in the Chubb-Steinberg Orchestra of Cincinnati in 1924. His nickname reflected his heavy drinking and womanizing in his early years.
