Minhyun (민현), full name Hwang Minhyun (황민현) is the lead vocalist of South Korean boy group Nu'est (New Established Style and Tempo), who were the first male group to debut under Pledis Entertainment on March 15th 2012. He is also a former member of South Korean boy group Wanna One. Born 9th August 1995 in Busan, Minhyun grew up inspired by artists such as TVXQ (동방신기) and Buzz (버즈), wanting to one day sing and be recognised as an artist like them. After being scouted by Pledis Entertainment, Minhyun appeared in label mates Orange Caramel's music video 'Shanghai Love' as the male lead as well as their music video 'Bangkok City' as a cameo. He later also took part with label mates After School and Son Dambi (손담비) alongside fellow members of NU'EST and some members of Seventeen (세븐틴) members in the Happy Pledis song and music video for 'Love Letter'. Once NU'EST had debuted, Minhyun took part in various activities, from acting in 'Reckless Family', taking part in variety shows, appearing as a regular on Arirang's 'Music Access' as well as acting in a Japanese movie with all members of NU'EST. NU'EST's popularity however diminished overtime and having struggled for many years, 4 of 5 members, including Minhyun, decided to take part on survival show Produce 101. Having competed for the final line-up of the show's boy group, Minhyun was the only member of NU'EST to be voted in the top 11.
