藍華柳 (Aikaryu) was a visual kei indies band with a metal influenced sound. Their costumes are usually theme-based (Pirates, Vampires etc.) and comedic plays were often included in their lives. They formed in 2000 and after several line-up changes and releases on omnibus albums they finally joined CROW music and released a couple of singles and a mini-album the following years. In 2005 Takamasa left and was replaced by Shagrath. In 2006, the band was involved in car accident, forcing the band to cancel lives and pause activities. However, the members who recovered played in session bands during this time. Due to Uli not being able to return as their drummer, Aikaryu have decided to disband on July 15th 2007 after their Kyoto ARC DEUX live. Kaworu and Uli announced that they will retire from the music scene, Teru is currently in the now famous Versailles as well as Jupiter, Shagrath was a member of Irodori, but since it disbanded he has been playing in several session bands. Currently he's in the UNDER CODE PRODUCTION band 朱. Daiki's activity is currently unknown. The band is going to have a one day revival on July 21st, with other disbanded CROW music bands, but Teru's participation is still not confirmed due to his intense activities with Versailles. # Why This Band Merits Attention This ensemble presents a fascinating case study in how visual spectacle and sonic substance might coexist within indie metal. Rather than treating theatrical presentation as mere decoration, the band integrated thematic costumes and comedic performance as integral expressions of their artistic vision—an approach that challenges conventional boundaries between appearance and sound. Their willingness to embrace genre hybridity within visual kei's often rigid aesthetics, combined with the resilience demonstrated through lineup transitions and external hardship, reveals something meaningful about creative persistence in Japan's underground music scene. The arc from omnibus compilation appearances to sustained releases on a dedicated label reflects genuine artistic development worth tracing, particularly for those interested in how marginal communities foster
