Asa (亜沙) is a solo artist/songwriter and the bassist of Wagakki Band.Asa was born on December 18, 1987 in Japan's Saitama Prefecture. In 2012, Asa composed and produced the song "Yoshiwara Lament" with vocals provided by Kasane Teto (a virtual "vocaloid" artist) and posted the video on the japanese video sharing site NicoNico where it became a smash hit. Asa has subsequently produced many Kasane Teto songs such as "Meisho Romance" and "Ikebukuro Twilight Nightclub". In 2013, Asa joined Wagakki Band as bassist. The 8-member band combines western rock instruments and traditional Japanese instruments and initially performed covers of vocaloid songs but have since written their own material. The video for their song "Senbon Sakura", has exceeded 100 million views on YouTube, and their second album 八奏絵巻("Octet Picture Scroll") reached first place in the Oricon chart. "War -ikusa-", which Asa wrote and composed, was used as the theme song for the popular game "Sengoku Warriors 4-II" and has exceeded 20 million views.
