グーミ (goomi) is a 3-piece band from Chiba-ken, Japan consisting of: Ryogo Kobata on violin/guitar; Manami Fuji on bass; Kazuko Tobita on drums/glockenspiel All 3 members take turns singing lead when they aren't harmonizing as a trio. Their sound is quite diverse with elements of shoegaze, classical, experimental and post-punk. They play what they self-describe as "アングラポップ" (underground pop). In fact, they are part of an "アングラポップ" collective with like-minded bands: FAR FRANCE, miyauchi yuri, YOMOYA, circe, nakano yousuke (paperbag lunchbox), mother, creepy pop, tarachine... with whom they frequently hold live performances. Recently signed to the indie Zombie Forever label, グーミ will be releasing a new album sometime in the fall.
