Мизар (Mizar) is a Macedonian darkwave band with folklore and electronic elements formed in 1983 in Skopje. They achieved a status of a cult band, especially in Republic of Macedonia and across the former Yugoslav countries. Mizar was a part of the Makedonska Streljba movement. Their first self-titled album was released 1988 in Ljubljana, Slovenia by the independent record label Helidon. This album was the first former Yugoslav rock album solely in Macedonian language. Previously the Macedonian bands often recorded their albums in Serbo-Croatian for marketing reasons, as it was the most widespread language in the former Yugoslav Federation. The album was a major success and it is listed among the top ten rock albums ever released in Macedonia,and the rest of former Yugoslavia. In their long history Mizar had Three Revelations, all of them with different singers. The First Revelation (Risto Vrtev) The band was formed in 1983 in Skopje, but their first self-titled album came out in 1988. The first line up of Mizar was: Gorazd Chapovski (guitar) Risto Vrtev (vocalist) Ilija Stojanovski (bass guitar) Panta Dzambazoski (drums) The Second Revelation (Goran Tanevski) In 1985 Vrtev left Mizar and was replaced by Goran Tanevski. Also the keyboardist Slobodan Stojanovski joined in. This change affected their musical style as well.
