Čompe 1994/95 Čompe, translated into the language of art is no more than a dialect term for potatoes, which is in use in Trenta and Ziljski valley, Slovenia. Čompe are: Silvo Zupančič - guitar Neža Zinaić - violin Marjan Stanič - drums / percussion Janez Škof - diatonic harmonica / voice Žiga Saksida - alto / baritone saxophone Breda Krumpak - alto saxophone "WHY ČOMPE? Because we are ethically and morally committed to our childbearing earth and rocks in it, spirits of our ancestors, which are getting marriend, intoxicated, beaten and drudged in the vallys and plains of our, your and my home and because on an empty stomach as ordered hits the spot the potatoes in their skins and the trenta curd. This potatoes grow in a country where winters are long with high snow and dangerous avalanches. Where the tractors are not much help and they do not know the combine harvesters. You can't get it in Mercator or even in Spar, it isn't much, but it is valuable. Otherwise, the potatoes saved our ancestors of the famine once already. It sailed accross ocean, bred by the Indians.
