Úzkost describes their music as "blackened and doomed death metal" on the band's Facebook page and the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania band has been doing just that since 2010, formerly under the name Slaves BC. In June 2020, the band announced the name change on their Facebook page. The new band name is the Czech word for "anxiety" or "urgent fear", a tribute to drummer/vocalist Josh Thieler's Czech grandfather.
