Artist
Øyvind Rauset (born October 3, 1952 in Oslo) is a Norwegian artist, musician, composer and graphic designer. He studied at Statens Handverks- og kunstindustriskole (Norway's Arts- and Crafts School) 4 years; Statens Kunstakademi (Oslo Art Academy) 5 years; Østlandets Music Conservatory (now part of Musikkhøgskolen i Oslo) 10 years half-time study of violin, piano and music harmonics. He was a violinist in two famous folk rock bands from Norway, Folque and Ym-Stammen, but is more widely known for his own music on the two albums Landscape With Two Figures (with British songwriter Richard Burgess (1982), and 13 Impossible Dances + 1 Improbable (1988, revised 1992). Acquisitions: Norsk Kulturråd (Norw. Cultural Council); Statfjord B. Scholarships: Norwegian Illustration fund 1987; Govt.'s Travel- and Study Scholarship 1991 (to Egypt); Norw. Composers' Royalty Fund 1997; TONO work scholarship 1997; Norw. Composers' Royalty Fund 2003, TONO work scholarship 2004. Openly gay, Rauset organized Night and Day, the first Scandinavian exhibition of gay and lesbian art, in 1985. He is a cultural ambassador of the International Lesbian and Gay Cultural Network. He is also web editor for the songwriter club Nye Skalder and the Norwegian songwriter forum Norsk Viseforum.
