Æðra (I'th-ra): æðri - adj comp higher, more exalted (Icelandic) Æðra is a Progressive Black metal band from Carlinville, Illinois formed as a solo project of Erik Lagerlöf in late 2007. Early the next year Æðra released a self-titled demo, and a split with fellow local artist DKrefft titled "Sex Lies, and Treachery." Expanding on initial atmospheric sounds of the first demo, the "Limbs of the Sky" demo was recorded in 2009, subsequently bringing Æðra to the attention of the German label Naturmacht Productions later that year and joining their roster. Æðra recorded the first studio album "The Evening Red" throughout 2010 in Bethalto, Illinois. It was released on 31 May, 2011 via Naturmacht Productions. As of January, 2012, songwriting has begun for the next album, tentatively titled "Perseiderna."
