This name is a variation of the band name of Johnny Peebucks & The Swingin' Utters which was the original moniker of the band when they released their debut 10" in 1992 and their notoriety spread when they rebranded as simply The Swingin Utters and Rancid's Lars Frederiksen produced The Streets Of San Francisco in 1995. The band nucleus was founded in late 80's Santa Cruz by Johnny Bonnell aka Johnny Peebucks, and the group's rotating members have included Max Huber , Miles Peck,Joel Dison, Kevin Wickersham, Greg McEntee , Darius Koski , Jack Dalrymple, and even Spike Slawson of Me First & The Gimme Gimmes. Their songs have been covered on records by bands including Dropkick Murphys, La Plebe and Teenage Bottlerocket while special guests who've played on Swingin' Utters records have included Chris Shiflett of Foo Fighters, Fat Mike of NOFX and 90's era Social Distortion bassist John Maurer.
