about this album

Wild Dances is the fifth studio album by Ukrainian singer-songwriter Ruslana, released on July 6, 2004. Featuring the Eurovision-winning hit Wild Dances, the album sold over 700,000 copies in Ukraine, making it one of the country's highest-selling albums ever. The album is often credited as the first Ukrainian album to achieve international success. The album blends traditional Ukrainian sounds with contemporary pop and rock influences while showcasing Ruslana's powerful vocals. To create the album, Ruslana drew on elements from Hutsul culture, a distinct ethnic group in the Carpathian Mountains. She also incorporated traditional Ukrainian instruments such as the trembita, sopilka, and bandura. Wild Dances was a commercial success, especially in Europe, selling over 1 million copies worldwide. The album quickly went 2x platinum in Ukraine, launching Ruslana to global fame and establishing her as a Ukrainian pop icon. International versions were released in countries like Poland, Lithuania, and Russia, helping Ukrainian pop music gain popularity across Europe.
