about this album

This first Redshift Wild album was initially released at the Hampshire Jam 2 concert in 2002 and strictly limited to 100 disc copies, each signed, as a special release for that occasion. The demand for a wider release has been unrelenting ever since so here it is in download form. There are two live recordings followed by two studio performances. “Red 1” was actually recorded at the KLEM festival in 1995 during Mark Shreeve’s solo concert. The other musicians here are James Goddard and Julian Shreeve and as a result of this performance being so enjoyable they decided to form together with Mark Shreeve as Redshift to create this style of music live. “subEther” is an unplanned encore taken from Redshift’s first official concert at Jodrell Bank in December 1996. The actual sequence line was left over from the performance of “Ether” although notes did get changed on the fly. Everything else on top is totally improvised. On this track the previous three musicians were joined by Rob Jenkins on guitar. “Vega” and “Jupiter Collision” are two studio tracks recorded sometime in early 1997 by James Goddard, Julian Shreeve and Mark Shreeve.
