Manchester’s Warm Widow describe their album "Widower" as recorded "accidentally". By this they refer to the fact that the recordings which make up the album were never intended for release. The recordings were in fact a hastily recorded rehearsal room 'demo' conceived as an aid to teach a new drummer their songs. They intended to record their album "properly" at some point later in 2010 - when they had scraped together enough cash to hire a studio for a few days. But when Manchester record label White Box Recordings got their hands on the 'demo', they immediately insisted that it should be released as it was. They considered the recordings to be of a high enough quality for release and believed that to re-record the songs in a 'professional' manner would risk losing the unique rawness and atmosphere that had been captured by the band in their rehearsal room. Consequently White Box released the album in autumn 2010, and it has since received acclaim from the likes of Boomkat, Foxy Digitalis, Pigeon Post and Norman Records.
