"Weathered" is the third studio album by American rock band Creed, released on 20 November 2001. It was the last Creed album released until "Full Circle" in October 2009, following the band’s disbandment in June 2004. "Weathered" is the only Creed album recorded as a three-member band, after bassist Brian Marshall departed in August 2000. Vocalist Scott Stapp and guitarist Mark Tremonti wrote most of the material during a three-week period in late 2000, following the tour supporting their second album, "Human Clay." The band worked with longtime producer John Kurzweg, recording in a private residence and studio in Ocoee, Florida, owned by Jay Stanley. Recording sessions began in July 2001, with Tremonti performing bass duties in Marshall’s absence, and lasted approximately four months. Stapp described the album as "two records in one" and "a very extreme record," noting that it includes some of Creed’s heaviest and most aggressive songs, experimental tracks, as well as several of their most popular ballads. Lyrically, the album addresses themes often explored by the band, including Christianity and faith, discrimination and unity, depression, loneliness, and friendship, alongside more personal topics such as criticism and persecution from the press, substance abuse, coping with fame, feelings of invisibility, and Stapp’s deteriorating physical and mental health.
