Released in September, 2005, We Are Wyoming was written on the road, passing the deserts of New Mexico, the plains of Wyoming. Petracovich (Jessica Peters) and her husband were on tour for the previous album, Blue Cotton Skin, and driving through the country in a big Ford Van named Valerie. They stayed in lots of parking lots, and saw new places like Hydro, Oklahoma, small towns, places where everyone knew each others name, and this created the landscape for the music. This album was recorded in Santa Barbara with Tad Wagner who added beautiful guitars and shared the programming of drums and various dreamy sounds. It was done over weekends with Jessica driving down from San Rafael, CA for a few days at a time, over a period of two years.
