The 4th ROIR USA release is the work of modern Dub Master and Producer Emmanuel Okoronta (the Black Cat), who emigrated form his Ibo tribal village in Nigeria to California several years ago. This is his second ROIR release. The first Black Cat Dub (ROIR cassette A-203) introduced his deep bass/percussive roots psychedelic style, reminscent of his heroes, Lee 'Scratch' Perry and King Tubby. In his latest endeavor, we have essentially more of of the same - but what a same! His unique style positions him as a leading figure in the New Dub Movement in America. Press "Gato's vocals weave through the mix like an alleycat on a night prowl. Human voice and traditional tribal percussion* move with and against the rhythm,... he must be counted among those who are injecting renewed inspiration into Jah music." - Elena Oumano, Reggae Historian "Vital Force Dub is 70 minutes of breathtaking dub from the Black Cat. Okoronta's pulsating, organic tracks feature floating horns and melodica lines over traditional African instruments. But the rhythms are always anchored in the Jamaican reggae traditions of such dub pioneers as Augustus Pablo, King Tubby and Lee "Scratch" Perry." - Huh User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
