According to Nikolas Kozik, "Violent Lives" was written near the end of 2020 and in to the beginning of 2021 while he was sixteen years old. The record was composed primarily using synthesizers, guitars, and an acoustic piano. Tape machines were used as the primary means to create drones and ambience throughout the album.
