"Veni Vidi Vicious" is the second studio album by Swedish rock band the Hives, released on 10 April 2000 through Burning Heart Records and Epitaph Records. It was reissued on 30 April 2002 through Sire Records and Gearhead Records. The Japanese edition included additional tracks and bonus material. The album title references the Latin phrase "Veni, vidi, vici" attributed to Julius Caesar following his victory in Asia Minor in 47 BC, as well as the surname of Sid Vicious, bassist of the punk band Sex Pistols. The album received generally favourable reviews from critics, achieving an aggregated score of 84 out of 100 on Metacritic. Individual reviews included ratings such as four and a half stars from AllMusic, 8 out of 10 from Alternative Press, four stars from Blender, a grade of B from Entertainment Weekly, 8 out of 10 from IGN, 7.4 out of 10 from Pitchfork, four stars from Rolling Stone, four and a half stars from The Rolling Stone Album Guide, a grade of A from Stylus Magazine, and Aβ from The Village Voice. In 2005, "Veni Vidi Vicious" was ranked number 399 in the book "The 500 Greatest Rock & Metal Albums of All Time" published by Rock Hard magazine. It was also placed at number 91 on Rolling Stone's list of the top 100 albums of the decade. The song "Hate to Say I Told You So" was later ranked number 244 on Pitchfork's list of the top 500 songs of 2000β2009.
