Album
Stockton/Italy's Baseball Gregg is back big-time in 2016 with their first full-length LP, Vacation. If the duo’s 2014 self-titled EP captures a wide-eyed stroll through an evening city, Vacation is a full-on immersion in a different reality. Split between California and Italy, Baseball Gregg crafted Vacation in Samuel Regan's childhood bedroom in Stockton, California, where the bed is a drum set and the boys sleep on the floor. The 'Gregg calls upon the muses of classic producers like Thomas Dolby and Brian Wilson to create a walk-able soundscape. 36 minutes of tropical mellotrons swimming around the Pacific Ocean, from the Bay to Shibuya, echoing Hiroshi Sato and Eiichi Ohtaki glorious 80s’ Japanese city-pop. It’s a solid laptop-rock record which blends the Pavement genetics of a Stockton native with the Mediterranean attitude of the Belpaese. From the turquoise-lined dance beat sheen of Palace of Luxury to the frenetic urban beat of On A Bus, Vacation aims for thrills, not frills. The album was released April 30th, 2016 on La Barberia Records. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
