"Untrue" is the second studio album by British electronic music producer Burial. It was released on 5 November 2007 by Hyperdub and was produced in 2007 using the digital audio editing software Sound Forge. The album develops the sound established on Burial’s self-titled debut album from the previous year, particularly through a more prominent use of pitch-shifted and time-stretched vocal samples. Like his earlier work, it incorporates elements of UK garage, ambient, and hardcore music. "Untrue" received widespread critical acclaim, with reviewers highlighting Burial’s production style and often describing the album as a progression from his earlier material. It charted in Belgium and the United Kingdom and produced the single "Ghost Hardware". The album was included in several year-end best album lists and received nominations for the Mercury Prize and the Shortlist Music Prize. In subsequent years, "Untrue" has been widely regarded as a landmark release within the dubstep genre and electronic music more broadly. In 2017, Pitchfork described it as "the most important electronic album of the century so far". User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
