Trial by Fire is the third studio album by American rapper Yelawolf. The album was released on October 27, 2017, by Slumerican, Shady Records and Interscope Records. Work on Trial by Fire began a few months after the release of Yelawolf's second major label album Love Story, in the the House of Blues studio in Nashville, Tennessee. Yelawolf produced the album in its entirety, and brought in a small group of musicians to commence work on the album, including his tour DJ, DJ Klever, guitarist Bones Owens, and keyboardist Peter Keys from Lynyrd Skynyrd. The first single, Daylight, was released on September 22, 2016. The second single, Shadows, featuring country singer Joshua Hedley was released on October 28, 2016. To promote the album, Yelawolf embarked on the Trial By Fire Tour across the country. While on tour, however, Yelawolf's best friend, rapper Shawty Fatt, died in a car accident, causing Yelawolf to have a mental breakdown on stage during the one of the shows. The remaining tour dates were cancelled, along with the impending release of the album, and Yelawolf retreated from public life. Yelawolf emerged again on June 2, 2017 with the third single from the album, Row Your Boat. Punk featuring drummer and long-time collaborator Travis Barker, and rapper Juicy J was released August 31, 2016.
