At the point of this album's release Sweden's Puissance had been lurking the shadows of viciously militaristic neoclassical Ambient music for almost ten years, creating aurally destructive endtime scenarios preaching the end of the world as a means to release a world beyond all hope of being salvaged. Over the course of their career, a lot of the menacing darkness in sound displayed in perfection on the monumental "Let Us Lead" album would deminish in favour of a more subtle approach of influencing the potential target of the relentless propaganda machine with seemingly comforting but subliminally disturbing soundscapes. Still viciously militaristic in percussion, and still dark at an essential level, the integration of superficially accessible lead melodies would serve as a perfect vehicle to draw the entirely unprepared listener into the lyrical netherworlds of uncompromising misanthropy that found their height of perfection on this masterpiece called "Total Cleansing". However, this cannot go without saying that with all the increase in efficiency in recruiting new disciples for the noble cause of total world destruction this "opening up" in apparent musical accessibility would also prove to be a slippery slope which would later lead to Puissance's creative demise that is the redundancy called "State Collapse", and when paying close attention to "Total Cleansing" one can make out the vague hints of warning signs already showing up here and there. It seems that as zeniths g
