Album
Torched was assembled by Hedges' longtime musical associate Hilleary Burgess from tracks Hedges had been working on at the time of his 1997 death in an automobile accident, and was released in 1999. Hedges is in singer/songwriter mode here, and as one might expect the songs sound like they were in varied states of completion. David Crosby and Graham Nash, who had worked with Hedges, were brought in for vocal overdubs on the song "Spring Buds" after his death. "Torched" was Hedges' term for a state of total spiritual and mental engagement in a moment or task, and was probably as appropriate a title as could be chosen for what proved to be his final work.
