This Hell is the lead single of Rina Sawayama's forthcoming sophomore studio album, Hold The Girl. The song released on May 18, 2022, but leaked on May 14, 2022. Rina describes it as "a tongue in cheek pop song that celebrates community and love in a time where the world seems hellish". The single started being teased in May 2022 towards the end of The Dynasty Tour, when pamphlets were sent out to journalists with the saying “RINA IS GOING TO HELL / AN INVITATION TO ETERNAL DAMNATION”.
