The Stripes was a short-lived band which included German guitar player Rainer Kitzmann and high-energy teenage singer Nena Kerner (later 99 Luftballons). Their first album was initially released in 1980, but the group disbanded after achieving only one hit with the song Ecstasy. Sony re-released the album under the Columbia label in 2004. The album was performed entirely in English, although Nena had much greater success later with songs in her native German language.
