November 2007 Nanowrimo is a challenge to write 50,000 words of fiction in one month during the month of November. I don't write fiction and had too many friends participating in Nano, so I decided to join them by attempting to write 50,000 SECONDS of music. 'the stream' is my second year in the effort. I came MUCH closer and greatly enjoyed the motivation to play from the heart, unscripted, spontaneously, for as much as I could endure. Most of the music on the stream are improvisations. I'd pick a patch on the synth with no idea what I was about to play, hit the record button, and played. Whatever came out, came out. Some of the songs are a little rehearsed though, like "Fugue Madness". "Happy Mist" was written on sheet music first, and then I filled in gaps of song structure with improvisational play. I also had a new synthesizer to explore, and so this album is an exploration on what it can offer in terms of live performance. I'm very happy with all benefits of this period of exploration.
