“The Secret” is the second extended play (EP) by American pop singer Austin Mahone, released on May 27, 2014, through Cash Money Records, Republic Records, and Chase Records. The EP showcases Mahone’s blend of pop and EDM influences, drawing inspiration from 1990s boy bands like Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC. The Secret debuted at number five on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling 46,000 copies in its opening week. As of November 2014, the EP had sold 100,000 copies in the United States. The EP received mixed reviews from critics. USA Today’s Elysa Gardner noted that Mahone’s tunes hark back to ’90s pop acts like *NSYNC and Backstreet Boys, stating, "His creamy yearning should set young hearts aflutter."
