The Quiet Transition is a four-track EP by Spanish composer Rest in Clouds, released in April 2026 on the Canadian independent label Signal Alchemy. The recording continues the artist’s exploration of organic ambient and nature-infused ambient music, structured around four phases of a single day. The EP combines low-frequency drones, layered electronic pads, bell-like synth tones, and environmental field recordings. The opening track, “After Everything,” establishes the project’s tonal language through a pulsing drone and faint nocturnal insect sounds, gradually expanding into sustained harmonic layers that crest and recede without reliance on rhythm or defined melody. Subsequent tracks introduce lighter textures, including subtle piano figures and birdsong, maintaining a restrained, reflective atmosphere throughout. Conceptually, The Quiet Transition traces the movement from pre-dawn stillness through daylight and into evening by a flowing stream. Rest in Clouds, the ambient project of Valencia-based composer and mastering engineer Raúl Jordan, draws on influences ranging from early electronic pioneers to contemporary psychedelic ambient artists.
