‘The Proposal’ by Kim Carter There is a real need for original electronic music that is not just a copy of something that already exists. In Kim Carter’s album ‘The Proposal’ is a unique blend of classical melody and harmony, alongside ambient atmosphere, and trance-like rhythm. It does not suffer from the repetitiveness of so much electronic music. The rhythmic effects used are original and creative, and certainly not boring. The whole album is hard to actually put in a category, because it doesn’t really sound like anybody else! There are tinges of Pink Floyd, Jean Michel Jarre. Brian Eno, Tomita, William Orbit, and Beethoven. I think it is an album that will really grow on you, and you'll probably notice new sounds in it each time you listen. Do have a listen to the whole CD, as I especially like the last few tracks. My personal favourite is 'I'm in love'.
