The Mascarene is an album by Mauritian composer Le Morne, released in February 2026 by the Canadian independent label Signal Alchemy. Rooted in the traditions of organic ambient and nature-infused ambient music, the album draws inspiration from the coastal landscapes of Mauritius and the artist’s personal connection to the sea. The compositions centre on improvised piano passages accompanied by layered organ tones, hand-played pandrums, and the resonant shimmer of a singing bowl. Each piece was recorded with minimal post-processing to preserve the natural acoustics of the instruments, resulting in a textured and contemplative soundscape.
