London indie band Channel Cairo's first release balances vocal-driven modern song-writing on the shoulders of genre-defining influences like Radiohead, The Police and The Strokes. With an energetic vibe, it's held together by the band's love of a melodic hook and a spine-tingling harmony, sometimes leaning towards alternative pop, sometimes darker, sometimes anthemic. A bit of history... Frontman Josh (vox/piano) and Hamish (guitar) founded their writing partnership as students, gigging across Cardiff under various names before upping the ante with a move to London. Joe (bass) and Jimmy (drums) have shared musical ambitions since 16, and enjoyed a taste of success at Fuji Rock. James went on to tour Europe and the States. Country boys at heart, the 4 are now firmly anchored in the Capital, with French lead guitarist Sylvain completing the line up. http://www.myspace.com/channelcairo User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
