"Alternative-rock diva Leah Callahan has a seemingly boundless passion for reinvention...she fronted the art-rock bands Turkish Delight and Betwixt, and she's created several local music theater productions. (the self-titled) The Glass Set is her first amalgamation of both, begun when she became reacquainted with producer Richard Marr of Galaxy Park Studios (to record this) edgy rock opera. The opera's story line seems to follow the struggles of an isolated, lovelorn young woman in an unfeeling, superficial world. Callahan again captivates while singing her heart out. And while the music tends to serve Callahan's vocals and the plot she unfolds, it is quite textured and emotionally resonant." Sarah Tomlinson, The Boston Globe Gritty, neurotic, disheveled and bad-ass, this isn't your grandmother's (or even Green Day's) rock opera. Riotous stitches of Poly Styrene woven in with the sultriness of Peggy Lee create this itchy sweater of an album. Ex-Codetta members Andrew Doherty and Erik Szyska hit the mark spot on with guitar and bass that go from post-grunge to glam, while the moody, machine-like drumming of Allen Esser keeps it all in (Mancunian) check. credits Concept, music, lyrics: Leah Callahan; Drums: Allen Esser; Guitar: Andrew Doherty; Bass: Erik Szyska.
