By Bass Musician-Published on January 15, 2021 (Music release date January 13, 2021) Robert’s new album titled “The Fonk Record” first and foremost is dedicated to the memory of the late great Bassist/NBA Star “Wayman Tisdale” whose album of the same name “The Fonk Record” (which was his last studio recording) was released little over a decade ago after his untimely death to cancer on May 15th, 2009. Upon listening to “The Fonk Record” there’s an immediate and familiar sound reminisce of the many legendary artists that have pioneered funk music and catapulted this genre of music worldwide to the masses. On each and every track Robert definitely pays homage to the many artists that have inspired him. Besides gravitating to funk music before he ever picked up the bass guitar, once Robert actually had an instrument in his hands funk was his forte. Robert’s groove is impeccable and as he weaves in and out of these tracks you will hear his familiarity with such prominent funk artists as Roger Troutman, Cameo, Kool & The Gang, James Brown, Larry Graham, Wayman Tisdale, and even the slippery wet bass lines on Robert’s track “Mutron Luv” show traces of funks premier bassist Bootsy Collins.
