The Fame is the debut studio album by Lady Gaga, released on August 19, 2008, by Interscope Records. Primarily produced by RedOne, Martin Kierszenbaum, and Rob Fusari, it blends electropop, synth-pop, and dance-pop with 1980s influences. The album explores themes of fame, love, sex, money and identity. A commercial success, The Fame topped charts in multiple countries, reached #2 on the US Billboard 200, and dominated the Dance/Electronic Albums chart for 190 weeks. Certified six-times Platinum by the RIAA, it sold over 18 million copies worldwide including the reissue The Fame Monster (Deluxe Edition). Singles "Just Dance" and "Poker Face" became global hits, followed by "LoveGame" and "Paparazzi", which also charted highly. The album won several awards, including two Grammys, and was named one of Rolling Stone's "100 Greatest Debut Albums of All Time". Gaga described The Fame as a celebration of pop culture, combining music with performance art. It was promoted through The Fame Ball Tour and numerous TV appearances, solidifying her status as a pop icon.
