Cat#: SILKSF038 Release date: May 25th, 2012 Genre: downtempo, ambient Silk Sofa is proud to present another EP by Ukrainian artist Owen Ear, entitled "The Crowd". Owen was last active with his remix of Orion & J.Shore's "Architect's Dream", but now he's ready with 4 new originals. The first track, "In The Crowd", begins with a mysterious intro, soon accompanied by an outstanding piano melody, which receives additional layers later on in the track. A lush combination of guitar plucks, bass notes, and soothing pad layers combine beautifully with the tremendous beat. "Nekkhamma" introduces hypnotizing pad melodies, while a deep bassline plays underneath; the pads are varied to a great extent, and numerous effects emerge as well in the track. Later, a fascinating piano melody appears, leading the track forward to an intriguing outro. The third cut is "Sameness", in which we're quickly introduced to deep melodic layers and a supporting piano line. Strong cello melodies emerge at the same time as a unique and pulsing percussion groove below, creating a fairly mesmerizing atmosphere. Lastly, "Farewell Sequence" is a shorter song that includes Owen's usual touch of a great piano line and comforting pad layers; the piano is varied with additional notes, and we also witness calm string melodies in the second half.
