Album
This outstanding release features the complete collection of recordings made by John Coltrane with the trumpeter and fluegelhornist Wilbur Harden, a mysterious figure in jazz history, who was forced to retire at the age of 35 due to ill health. Featuring some of the finest jazzmen of the era -Tommy Flanagan, Curtis Fuller, Louis Hayes and Art Taylor-, this music leaves no doubt that Trane remains a jazz innovator of epochal dimensions. Highlights include the loping "Wells Fargo," the exotic "E.F.F.P.H.," and the strutting "Anedac," plus some other original compositions such as “West42nd Street,” “Countdown,” "Dial Africa” or “Tanganyika Strut,” and standards like the ballad “Once In A While.” This release also includes all the existing alternate takes. A rare reissue of less known jazz material from the Coltrane discography. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
