The Cenozoic Implosion refers to the Cambrian explosion, which took place around 541 million years ago. In this geological era, numerous new species evolved, creating a wide diversity of new morphologies and occupying new niches. The album then talks about an implosion, since we as humans are responsible for the extinction of innumerable species in our Age, the Cenozoic (66 mya - now).
