Recorded at the incredibly analog Goon Lagoon by Dick Chiclet and Johnny Hiwatt (Tobin Sprout, Awesome Color), and mastered by Jim Diamond (The White Stripes, The Fleshtones) at Ghetto Recorders, this debut album by The Boss Mustangs is proof positive that Rock is NOT Dead! Sounding like a throwback soundtrack to a 1968 Motor City Dragway short film, there’s no mistaking the band’s understanding of stripped down, raw, PowerGarage RocknRoll. Following the 2010 debut single release on Spinout Records, Mrs Mckee/Hazel Holly (Please Come Back) which received solid airplay throughout the midwest and on internet radio worldwide, The Boss Mustangs entered the studio in early 2011 to record a full length debut album. Following a pattern of high energy and dynamics coupled with tempo, timbre, and tone variations that keep this record coherent and consistent while being deliciously different from cut to cut, all ten of the original songs on this record nail the sounds of the heavier pre and post psychedelic era Detroit and London so well it absolutely sends shivers!
