Album
The debut of American Rock band Taking Back Sunday, released in early 2002. TAYF, ( as it abbreviated by it's fans) helped Taking Back Sunday, along with previous acts (Sunny Day Real Estate, blink 182, Jimmy Eat World) and contemporary groups (Thursday, My Chemical Romance, Dashboard Confessional) bring the Pop-Punk/Emo genre into the the front and center of Rock in the early 2000's. Fueled by the angst circa 20 year old feelings of lead vocalist, Adam Lazzara, lead guitar & vocalist , John Nolan, rhythm guitarist, Eddie Reyes, bassist, Shaun Cooper and drummer, Mark O'Connell, about romance, love and loss (as well a feud with New York native Jesse Lacey of Brand New helped their cause too) the album found a frenzy fan base and by 2005 it was certified Gold. While fans swooned over the criss-crossing voices of Lazzara & Nolan, and their more than expressive lyrics (I'm sick of writing every song, about you! , for example) it would not last long. By 2003 John Nolan would leave the group, bringing along bassist Shaun Cooper to start A Straylight Run (rumors state that it was over Adam cheating on Nolan's sister, and with a band like this what else could break them up other than a girl) while Taking Back Sunday would recruit Fred Mascherino & Matt Rubano and continue on their way. While Taking Back Sunday has released 4 other records ( with a wide variety of members) and even seeing a reunion of this album's line up, many of their fans consider this to me their magnum opus. N
