You can probably imagine the record-biz conversation going something like "Get me the next Dave Matthews or John Mayer, and lose the jazzy crap!" Even though that might be the kind of strategy employed in marketing Israel Gonzales to the masses, it seems unfair to accuse the Singer/Songwriter of cynically constructing his sound in such a manner. Sure, he's probably enamored with Matthews and Mayer; he even sounds earnest enough to admit it. But he seems to come by his approach honestly. "Suddenly" showcases the kind of highly rhythmic acoustic guitar work and catchy melodies that has become a Israel Gonzales trademark. On "Tonguetied" he repeats "I get Tonguetied, trying to describe all the crazy times, that ive had with you..and Ive spent days and nights, only just to find..i'm at a loss for words to say about you.." displaying the kind of smart-quiet-kid aura that lies not only at the heart of his aesthetic but,of his appeal as well. "Suddenly" is a collection of songs that Gonzales has written over the last few years. Songs of Hope,Love and Loss are what makes "Suddenly" a project worth lending an ear to..So.. Roll your windows down, turn the radio up and please enjoy "Suddenly"! User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
