Album
Strangers to Ourselves is the sixth studio album by American indie rock band Modest Mouse, delivered 8 years after March 2007’s We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank. In an October 2015 interview with Newsweek, frontman Isaac Brock stated that he “didn’t really notice eight years go by.” The album was delayed by two weeks for unknown reasons, and leaked 10 days early. Joe Zook, who mixed We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank, also mixed Strangers To Ourselves. The album's cover features an aerial image of Venture Out RV Resort, located in Mesa, Arizona. Strangers to Ourselves spawned two singles: “Lampshades on Fire” and “The Ground Walks, with Time in a Box.” “Coyotes,” “The Best Room,” and “Of Course We Know” were also released as promotional singles ahead of the album’s release.
