Tutu Puoane already performed at the North Sea Jazzfestival in Cape Town, she received several jazz awards and excelled in the (Belgian) tribute to Nina Simone: 'Goddam'. She definitely is a rising star and her debut album Songs will certainly contribute to her success. With the musical help of the Belgian piano player Ewout Pierreux, the Dutch bass player Guus Bakker and the Dutch drummer Jasper van Hulten (State of Monc) she creates a very mature jazz sound.
