about this album

Private yacht from the landlocked wilds of western Maryland? Tracked while enrolled at Frostburg State University, Mike Hounshell poured his adolescent love of AOR into 1981’s Sometime Somewhere. Much of the album was written while jogging—a process he likened to putting together a puzzle, and one that included Tom Harrison’s lilting synth and Kim Long’s McVie-inspired backing vocals. Mike put his singing career on hold and joined the military, returning to music after his discharge via the heavier-leaning Ten Below, Third Heaven, and Cathedral groups. A wildly assured slice of ’80s soft rock—Sometime Somewhere is easily Hounshell’s most enduring work.
