For Blank Ensemble, it is the necessary condition for a group activity. Blank individuals coexist in this rhizomatic, self-organised series of dialogues during the process of which each sound occurs under the sole responsibility of its emitter. The group activity is to enable the existence of textures emanating from the accumulation and/or removal of active entities, active bodies of sound all evolving at different pace. For Blank Ensemble, improvisation acts as a non-hierarchical system of gestures where composite elements and structure lie in the subversion of personal aesthetics, personal strategies adopted prior to the group activity and transfigured during the improvisation. It is a series of small mechanisms coming into place and creating a self-articulated organism bearing its own function as each Blank individual places his broken cogs into the machine. The six pieces presented in this recording are six realisations of different strategies leading to six small mechanical bodies. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA Lice
