This is an altered version of two first albums in the Chipmunks on 16 Speed anthology, by Brian Borcherdt of Holy Fuck. First released under the title of “Vol. 1” on Soundcloud in October of 2015, Borcherdt later uploaded Vol 1. onto Bandcamp in November 2015. The album features song covers by "Alvin and The Chipmunks" slowed down to a fraction of their original speed. The once peppy late-80s pop tunes have mutated into a heavy, post-punk styled trip. Borcherdt uploaded a few videos of the "Chipmunk Punk" vinyl being spun at a slower speed, demonstrating the process used to create the album. The project gained popularity when the YouTube channel "Lunar Orbit" reuploaded various songs from "Vol. 1" and "Vol. 2" into one video called "Sludgefest." This led commenters to believe that the original creator was Lunar Orbit, believing "Sludgefest" to be the album. Borcherdt speaks of this misconception in his "10 years later" interview from Flood Magazine: "Over the years, whenever I’d get somebody sending me a message saying, 'Hey, check it out, so-and-so’s talking about your thing,' it almost always hyperlinked to somebody who was hosting it sort of dubiously, not explicitly saying that it wasn’t their material, not really mentioning where it came from or who was behind it. It’s always these ephemeral moments that would come up, but you couldn’t really hinge them to anything, because they were referencing someone else’s YouTube that was hosting it, and now that person took it
